Talk to one of our Vacation Experts
Hola, Vallarta! I'm Kathleen Forte, a professional photographer and travel blogger with @InsideVallarta. Each month I feature five of my favorite things to see and experience, places to be, and people to meet in Puerto Vallarta. We view some of the world's most amazing sunsets here, making you pause with admiration! Here I'll show you five of my favorite spots to enjoy Mother Nature's setting golden globe when she offers this precious sight slowly lowering and settling over the town and Banderas Bay (Bahia de Banderas).

Each evening is unique depending on Puerto Vallarta's weather and season. Whether mesmerized from ground level or up in the neighborhood hills, you'll be in awe of the sunsets. And, just as you think the one you're watching tonight is "the best one ever," there's always tomorrow! It never gets old…and that's an understatement for sure!
Muelle de Playa Los Muertos

The adjoining beach to the iconic Los Muertos Pier is a familiar setting for both global tourists and residents of Puerto Vallarta. This expansive stretch of shoreline offers more than enough room to walk or dine at the numerous restaurants while watching the sun slip away into the West. Capture that romantic feeling when looking past the oversized "LOVE" sign as the turquoise blue water reflects the sun's yellow to creamy orange rays. Enjoy the sound of slowly lapping waves as a bonus, especially when the sign lights up after the sun has romantically set!
Casa Isabel

This time-honored boutique hotel is a short walk from busy Calle Basilio Badillo. I love being hundreds of feet up in this perfect spot, overlooking the heart of Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica, watching the vibrant changing colors of a glorious sunset between the trees and out over the Pacific Ocean. I've mingled with many guests standing at the restaurant's open-air railing before dining or gathered along the Palapa Bar's pool sipping zesty margaritas. Talk about enjoying those last colorful moments of the day combined with meeting people and conversation! Cheers!
El Panorama

Being on this restaurant's rooftop terrace at sunset provided, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen! Whether vacationing or coming as a local, I strongly suggest you have at least a cocktail and make it a point to enjoy the 360-degree view of the town's skyline and the mountains from this venue. The breezes from Banderas Bay will waft upwards, bringing the ocean scent along as you watch the sun drop into the Western horizon. Capture unforgettable moments by taking photos from this vantage point attached to a great story!
Cinco de Diciembre

I love wandering through older Puerto Vallarta's neighborhoods, walking the cobblestone streets. How often I've been delighted engaging with adults, children, shop owners, listening to hens cluck behind houses, or wandering upon the occasional ice cream cart. Slowly climbing dozens of winding steps up to hilltops for that expansive view of the city is a workout. But, what a treasure to meet locals at the end of the day, perhaps share a bench, and enjoy the setting sun. Don't be surprised if offered a beer to quietly enjoy the changing shades of the sun's rainbow setting over Banderas Bay!
El Centro Malecon Beach

Go to the north end of the Malecon to find a less-visited stretch of beach scattered with colored rocks of all sizes. I've gone to this peaceful area in El Centro to find a boulder, sit and quietly ponder a beautiful day's end to my usually busy activities. There is complimentary beauty between watching the sun's brilliant rays light up the clouds, walking on the rounded stones, and listening to the soft waves. Guaranteed, you will admire the setting reflection as it widely spreads across the shore while giving thanks for witnessing another day of magnificent natural beauty!
