RESTRICTIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND TRAVEL ADVISORIES
As you may know many areas within Mexico are experiencing what health professionals are calling a third wave of COVID-19. The new Delta variant is spreading faster than they can roll out vaccines.

Given the rapid rise in cases in the state of Jalisco specifically, the Governor has order that all bars must close, restaurants must close before midnight and operate at 50% occupancy for the month of August.

The CDC has once again updated or upgraded its travel advisory to a Level 4 – “Avoid Travel to Mexico”.  In addition to “Avoid travel to Mexico”, the CDC has kept the mandatory pre-flight testing in place. Any return traveler to the US from Mexico be tested for COVID19, prior to departure.  Similarly, in Canada, travelers are not prohibited from travelling but are advised to avoid all non-essential travel. Non-vaccinated Canadians are required by law to quarantine for 14 days after travel. Vaccinated and un-vaccinated Canadians are required to be tested 72 hours prior to arrival in Canada, once they arrive in Canada and 8 days upon their return.  These three tests range in a total cost of $450-$750 dollars.

Although these travel warnings and advisements are not complete “travel bans” or prohibitions on travel, they are indeed serious warnings.  This will impact the travel industry for what we hope, will be a short period of time.  Many guests are not willing to take the chance to travel with the strict government warnings and advisements.

We are gathering information daily as events unfold, as the government makes announcements and remain committed to keeping you informed as we receive information.

OUR UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCE POLICY:
From the on-set of COVID19 in North America, the majority of all travel companies, airlines, hotels, are offering deferred travel or travel credits for future use for guests impacted by COVID19. AirBNB, VRBO and other online booking agencies are offering full refunds.

What we have been doing and will continue to do on a case by case basis, will be to implement the Unique Circumstance Policy for COVID19.

What is the Unique Circumstance Policy for COVID19 and what is the process?
  • Guests submit their request for a cancellation.
  • Upon review we determine if their travel is indeed impacted by COVID19.
  • If the booking is greater than 60 days prior to arrival, they guest may cancel but they are encouraged to reselect dates for the future. 2021-2022
  • If the booking is less than 60 days prior to arrive, the guest is reminded of the 60 day cancellation policy and are offered a chance to reselect dates in 2021 or 2022.

This is not the first time the travel industry has been impacted by this sort of situation.  Companies that gained and retained customers were those that worked with their guests through these difficult types of situations. Thankfully throughout the last 12 months, our percentage of retaining or saving bookings from cancellation is still well over 85%
