Nuevo Vallarta, about ten miles from downtown Puerto Vallarta, is very popular with Americans and Canadians. Each year, we've seen an increase in the number of wonderful vacation rentals this area has to offer. For outdoor enthusiasts, Nuevo Vallarta is the place for you. Start off your tour by taking in the spectacular beachfront, the hard packed sand makes this sprawling flat beach perfect for an early morning walk or a romantic sunset stroll. Some of the resorts, although all-inclusive, welcome you for an afternoon cerveza and a snack.

Golf, anyone? Nuevo Vallarta offers three world class golf courses: the Mayan Palace, Paradise Village's El Tigre and the world renowned Flamingo's course.

Sailing is very popular in Nuevo Vallarta, evidenced by the 300-slip Marina that awaits you.

If it is shopping you want, don't miss Paradise Village Shopping Center. This lovely two story complex offers branches of downtown shops, restaurants, bars, real estate offices, a health center, cyber cafes, banks, a laundry and a supermarket complete with pharmacy.

Nuevo Vallarta is a great place for a family holiday. You might want to take the family to the dolphin facility and research center or the turtle protection reserve, a great educational excursion.

If you do want to head downtown there is regular bus service and cabs are usually less than 20 US dollars each way. Car rentals are also an option.

Nuevo Vallarta is in Nayarit, the state just north of Jalisco. There is an hour time difference from Vallarta but the majority of the tourist related businesses here operate on the "Vallarta clock" or Jalisco time.
