PVRPV staff participated in a CPR and First Aid training course this past Saturday at the PVRPV office in Old Town.

In all, 26 members of the PVRPV team took part in the CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and basic First Aid training. Dr. Alfonso Rodriguez from Clinica Intermedica, and Martin Tello and David Morales from Intermedic Emergency Medical and Ambulance Services were on hand to explain and teach these life saving tools. When CPR is performed it can double or even triple a person’s chances of survival! Staff also learned how to treat cuts and wounds, and the Heimlich maneuver for choking victims.

Health issues can be a fact of life whether you are at home or on vacation, and emergencies can and do happen. PVRPV staff have been the first responders in a number of situations, and will now have some basic tools to use in the event that they are ever needed again.

Dr.  Rodriguez and the great guys from Ambulancias Intermedic have been working with PVRPV for several years as our recommended doctor and ambulance services to our guests here in Puerto Vallarta. Dr Rodriguez is available for appointments at his office or even for house calls, something almost unheard of in the US or Canada, at 293.1991 or for emergencies at 225.5757. Ambulancias Intermedic may be reached 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at 225.9289 or Nextel 145.6216, and can provide both air and ground ambulance services. Pam Thompson from HealthCare Resources Puerto Vallarta (www.healthcareresourcespv.com) may be reached at 322.107.7007 or Pamela@healthcareresourcespv.com for any health information, insurance information, physician referrals and house calls. Pam was instrumental in putting together this training session for the staff.

A big thanks to Pam, and Dr Rodriguez, Martin and David for this important training!
