Sale Of “Heroes” Calendar Brings Advanced Training for Puerto Vallarta´s Firefighters

In the coming weeks as schools let out and the temperatures rise, kids and families flock to the rivers, pools and beaches for classic summertime recreational activities and to seek refuge from the heat.  With the hundreds of thousands of individuals hitting the waterways, many of whom are inexperienced swimmers or boaters, stories of drowning and near drowning are common.

Thanks to the sale of the inaugural Heroes’ Calendar featuring Puerto Vallarta’s first-responders, world-class trainers José Palacios Aguilar from the University of Coruna Spain and Brandon Avalos Diego from the Lifeguard Corps of Argentina have been brought to Puerto Vallarta for a two-week hands-on advanced training session to bring our firefighters and lifeguards to the next level in continuing education and abreast of the most current life-saving techniques.

In addition to the Puerto Vallarta Bomberos, José Palacios Aguilar and Brandon Avalos Diego, at the invitation of the local Department, have welcomed first-responders from Mexico City, Guadalajara, Sayulita and other local cities to take part in the ISO 9000 certification training.

Sales of the calendar have also been earmarked to send local representatives to an advanced training seminar in San Luis Potosi sponsored by the Association of Mexican Fire Chiefs and to bring in instructors from Monterrey to conduct Hazardous Materials Training.

Sponsors of the inaugural calendar included Andale Restaurant & Bar, Andales on the Bay, Apache’s Martini Bar & Bistro, Coffee Cup, Nacho Daddy’s Restaurant and Bar, PVRPV, Timothy Real Estate, Tropicasa Realty and Victors Bar & Grill.  Committee members included Gary Green, Tim Longpre, Margaret Souder, Bert Ramirez, Cindy DuChateau-Ramirez, Julie Guerrero, Miguel Velazquez, Alma Salgado and James Myers.  Special thanks to Josef Kandoll W Photography, John McCloud, John Stewart, Mayor Salvador González Reséndiz, Jorge Alejandro García Rojas, Patronato de Bomberos de Puerto Vallarta, US Consular Agent Kelly Trainor and the 90 men and women that proudly serve the Puerto Vallarta Fire Department.  Accommodations for the trainers have been donated by Andales on the Bay.

Calendars are still available online at www.bomberoscalendar.com.

“Don’t Sweat It… Be Cool in Puerto Vallarta Mexico”

PVRPV.com owner Tim Longpré decided to buy gifts for his staff at his last staff meeting to help them stay cool during the hot months. Perfect for the sultry summers, local residents, Bill Kelly & Alejandro Ramirez, have brought the “coolest’ invention to the Banderas Bay area!   Beautiful, fabric scarves [ties] that contain embedded crystals  which magically expand into a comforting, cool gel when immersed in cold water [or pool, ocean.]  Ideal for both indoors  and outdoors and  for all activities from sleeping, to strolling, to sports. They may be worn in a variety of ways, and for a variety of reasons!   Make superb gifts too!  As well, there are special ones that are designed for your doggie! The scarves are  created with loving attention to quality and detail.

They may be obtained by either e-mailing unonumerobomb@gmail.com

or phoning  [322] 137 1804   Delivery Available!

Cost is: $150 pesos.

That said there are MANY Health Care Benefits for the product

(1) Prevention of heat stroke

(2) The Multiple Sclerosos Society endorses them for all MS pts as the “cooling” effect reduces the symptoms of MS and therefore, pts can be more active with exercise and outdoor activities

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/oke/programs–services/directassistance/cooling-product-information-and-assistance/index.aspx

(3) Pregnant Women (they do not call it a bun in the oven for nada) and Women in Labour

(4) Hot Flashes (huge market en SMA…many repeat customers :) and Night Sweats (HIV+ pts etc)

(5) Reduces Headache Pain and Neck Discomfort (basically like an ice pack but can be worn outside so pts can be more comfortable outside during their day or at work etc)

(6) Stress Relief while city or long distance driving and airline travel (we had one customer tell us she did not turn on her AC during travel from SMA to USA as she just wore her tie)

(7) Helps relieve swelling due to sprains of the ankles and wrists (like ice pack but easier to transport)

(8) Improves Work Productivity and Comfort- surgeons are wearing in the OR remain cooler and more comfortable

Neck Wrap cools the blood flowing to the brain to keep the body comforted and focused for maximum performance. Doctors working in extreme temperatures experience tremendous thermal stress that affects their focus at work and even causes accidents and deaths on duty. Reducing this stress can enable doctors to maintain diligence in formidable temperatures and perform to the best of their capacity with the best of their health

Vote for Vallarta to receive the “Tianguis Turistico” NOW!

By Astrid van Dam
General Manager Superior Tours Vallarta
www.superiortoursvallarta.com

The biggest tourism fair of Mexico where thousands of travel agents from all over the world get together to get to know hotels, airlines, travel agents, DMC`s, restaurants and the attractive destinations of Mexico in general is looking for a new location!

For 35 years Acapulco has been the host to this huge event, but Mexico`s Administration for Tourism (Sectur) has decided that they will hold the 2012 edition in another city.  On the 15th of June, Sectur will decide which city will organize the next edition.

The Tianguis Turistico is Mexico`s own version of the ITB in Berlin, or the WTM in London.

Many cities in Mexico are dying to receive the next Tianguis; it will give a huge boom to the destination. Imagine that thousands of travel agents come to our city to promote it back to where they are from! Mazatlan, Cancun, Leon, Guadalajara, Monterrey and several other cities have started their own campaign to get the tourism fair to their cities. Also,  Puerto Vallarta together with Rivera Nayarit are now competing in this race, and you can help!

Go to http://turespacio.com/ and vote for Puerto Vallarta. At the time of writing, the City of Leon in Guanajuato seems to become the winner. After a difficult season for many business owners, Vallarta can`t wait to receive the Tianguis. It is now the time to vote and make history!!
