Today I want to share with you a delicious tradition I have had the pleasure to enjoy since childhood: Mexican sweets. Puerto Vallarta has a large store called CON ORGULLO AZTECA where one can find these delicious candies. In fact, they offer a huge variety of sweets typical of the entire Mexican Republic. These candies are handmade in the traditional way following recipes passed from generation to generation.
Some good examples of these treats are banderillas (made of coconut), rich natural borrachitos, ostias, cacahuates garapiñados, Rompope (eggnog) with a variety of flavors. Of course, the options are nearly endless. All of these make a delicious, inexpensive and also creative souvenir.

Hoy quiero compartir un deliciosa tradición que he tenido el placer de disfrutar desde mi infancia: Dulces Mexicanos: Puerto Vallarta tiene una gran tienda llamada CON ORGULLO AZTECA donde uno puede encontrar esos deliciosos dulces. De hecho, ofrecen una gran variedad de dulces típicos de todo la República Mexicana. Estos dulces son hechos a mano de una forma tradicional con recetas que han pasado de generación en generación.
Algunos ejemplos de estas delicias son las banderillas (hechas de coco), ricos y naturales borrachitos, ostias, cacahuates garapiñados y Rompope con su variedad de sabores. Por supuesto, las opciones son prácticamente ilimitadas. Todos estos hacen un recuerdo económico, creativo y sobre todo delicioso.

My good friend Tim Longpre, owner of PVRPV, approached me a few months back with the idea of my helping him to compose a blog where we could post information about Vallarta, his company, local restaurant finds, etc. At first, I was worried I’d neglect my own blog writing (hey I’m easily distracted) in order to do this one, but we quickly found a solution to that: involve the staff! And what a great idea it was! After a few months getting it rolling, we asked members of PVRPV’s staff (they employ 20 some great folks in Vallarta) to contribute their own stories about living in Vallarta, their experiences working in the tourist industry, visiting attractions around Vallarta and parts nearby, eating in her restaurants and just about anything else they wanted to talk about. We’re still editing the contributions and continue to receive more each day but what we’ve received thus far has been very exciting, not to mention informative. In addition to staff contributions, Tim has kept us all up to date on the latest information on this ‘oinkin flu. Now that most everything is back open (or will be by Wednesday, May 6) and things are set to hopefully return to normal soon, the contributions will be more “fun” and less, well, swine centered. The blog has really helped us all feel a greater sense of teamwork at PVRPV and we’re learning a great deal from each other (and hope our readers are too!). Many of the best entries on the blog are coming from employees who work upstairs and have limited interaction with the public. So, this helps us show how important these people are to the success of PVRPV, boosts moral and gives our clients a better idea of the company. We’re watching our daily readership numbers go up each day.
So far, one of my favorite entries has been this one by accounting department staff member Alma. Take a look. You can always comment under each entry if you wish. The staff member will see it and it really keeps them motivated to know you are reading it.

El personal de PVRPV demuestra que tiene gran capacidad!

Mi buen amigo Tim Longpre, dueño de PVRPV se acerco a mi hace algunos meses con la idea de que le ayudara en la creación del blog en donde publicaríamos información de Vallarta, su compañía, acontecimientos en restaurantes locales, etc. Al principio, me preocupe porque podría ser inconsistente con mi escritura en el blog (que puedo decir, me distraigo fácilmente) como para tomar tan gran responsabilidad, sin embargo, pronto encontramos la solución a eso: involucrando al personal! Y vaya que fue una gran idea! Después de unos meses de llevarlo a cabo, le solicitamos a los miembros del personal de PVRPV (la compañía emplea veintitantas grandiosas personas en Vallarta) que contribuyeran sus experiencias dentro de la industria turística, visitando atracciones en Vallarta y alrededores, experiencias culinarias locales y en sí de todo lo que les gustaría publicar. Aun estamos editando contribuciones y continuamos recibiendo más cada día, sin duda lo que hemos recibido ha sido muy emocionante, sin dejar de mencionar informativo. Aunado a las contribuciones del personal, Tim nos ha mantenido al día con la información actualizada y fidedigna de esta influenza porcina. Ahora que ya prácticamente todo reabrirá y ojala ya todo regresara a la normalidad, las contribuciones serán más ¨divertidas¨ y menos, por así decirlo, enfocadas a lo porcino. El blog de verdad nos ha dado la oportunidad de sentirnos parte del equipo de PVRPV y estamos aprendiendo muchas cosas el uno del otro (esperemos que nuestros lectores también!). Algunas de las mejores publicaciones en el blog han sido de trabajadores en el área administrativa que tienen interacción limitada con los clientes. Eso nos ayuda a mostrar lo importante que son estas personas para el éxito de PVRPV, eleva la moral y le da a nuestros clientes una mejor idea de la compañía.
Hasta ahora, una de mis publicaciones favoritas ha sido esta, realizada por Alma del departamento de contabilidad. Véanla. Pueden comentar debajo de cada publicación si lo desean. El trabajador lo verá, lo cual lo motivara al saber que están siendo leídos.
