Tony Nominee Sharon McNight sings ‘Songs to Offend Almost Everyone’ at The Palm!
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Tony Nominee Sharon McNight begins her hilarious show “Songs to Offend Almost Everyone” at 10pm on Sunday, March 10 at The Palm Cabaret and Bar (508 Olas Altas, southside/zona romantica). Her show (with live pianist) continues March 11, 12, 13, 15 and 18 at 8pm. This is a rare opportunity to catch this one of a kind show.

Sharon McNight made her Broadway debut in 1989 in “Starmites”, creating the role of Diva. She received a Tony award nomination as “Best Leading Actress in a Musical” for her performance, and is the recipient of the coveted Theatre Worlds Award for “Outstanding Broadway Debut”.

New York magazine’s John Simon said “Sharon McNight is a winner” and Al Hirschfeld did a caricature of her.

The singer/comedienne’s regional credits include Amanda McBroom’s “Heartbeats” at the Pasadena Playhouse, and an award winning Dolly in “Hello, Dolly” at the Peninsula Civic Light Opera (a role she repeated in her hometown, Modesto). Sharon was Sister Hubert in “Nunsense” in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where she received the Bay Area Critics Circle award for “Best Performance in a Musical”. She is the narrator of the documentary, “There That Night,” the story of the Provincetown, Massachusetts fire, and was featured in the A & E documentary, “It’s Burlesque”, for her research on Mae West and Sophie Tucker.

McNight began her career is San Francisco where she received her Master of Arts degree in directing from San Francisco State. She taught at City College of S.F. and has been a master teacher at the Eugene O’Neill Center and is currently on the faculty of the Cabaret Conference at Yale University. She was recently chosen as one of the 50 most influential people in cabaret for 2010: – “A tireless performer who will drop everything to perform in any benefit with a cause, the Tony-nominated McNight can sing anything and make it her own” –

She has played from Moose Hall to Carnegie Hall and anywhere the check doesn’t bounce. She has won six San Francisco Cabaret Gold awards, 3 Cable Car awards, a MAC award, a Bistro award, and received a Nightlife award from New York’s critics for her Best Musical Comedy show, “Ladies, Compose Yourselves!”, featuring songs by “living” female composers. Other songs include “Betty, Betty, Bette”, celebrating the screen legends Grable, Hutton & Davis; “Songs To Offend Almost Everyone”, a throwback to the party records of the 50′s mixed with political and social satire; “Gone, But Not Forgotten”, a tribute to the late ladies of stage & screen – Merman, Martha Raye, Madeline Kahn, Patsy Cline, & Judy Garland. In contrast is “The Sophie Tucker Songbook” which contains the music of the one-woman show based on the show business legend. The “Songbook” debuted at New York’s Rainbow & Stars as part of the ASCAP Sunday night showcase. Since then, she developed it into a one-woman musical, “Red Hot Mama”, which was work-shopped at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Lucille Lortell’s White Barn Theatre, and finished a successful three month run Off-Broadway at the York Theatre.

She has six solo recordings to her credit. Her eclectic repertory ranges from blues to country (yes, she yodels) to good old-fashioned entertainment. The Los Angeles Times called her “one of the great wonders of the musical stage”. She is most noted for her movie reenactment of The Wizard of OZ and for being one of the few real women to impersonate Bette Davis.

As an only child, her parents kept her busy with all kinds of lessons: ballet, tap, hula, social dancing, flute and piano. She is single and lives in Hollywood. She has been the forefront in the fight against AIDS since the early eighties, and was featured in Randy Shilt’s book “And the Band Played On”. She was chosen twice as the honorary chair of the San Francisco AIDS Emergency Fund, and was one of two heterosexual women chosen as the Grand Marshall of San Francisco’s Gay Parade.

Advance reservations are highly recommended. Tickets for ‘Songs to Offend Almost Everyone’ are 250 pesos (plus two drinks minimum) and may be purchased online at or at the door starting 2 hours before showtime each evening.
The Palm is well known for bringing top notch, cutting edge entertainment to Vallarta. Inside you’ll find an intimate, 80 seat cabaret with outstanding sound and lighting, creating the ambience of cabarets from days gone by. Shows are scheduled 7 nights per week with two different shows nightly. A full calendar of performances is available online at . The Palm is non-smoking (a patio is provided for smokers) and is located at Olas Altas 508. You can also find the Palm on Facebook at The Palm Cabaret and Bar.

March 1st 2013 marks the 8th anniversary for PVRPV in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. These last 8 years has been quite a journey filled with hopes and dreams, and this anniversary would not of been possible had it not been for our wonderful staff, our clients, our collaborators and of course our friends.

We have shared many experiences over the years, we have made mistakes that have turned into learning experiences.
I would like to say a special thanks to all of my staff, and to my sister Lina who has been in Puerto Vallarta now for 5 years. Sorry about the champagne on the shirt, oops it was an accident!

I would also like to thank our Clients, and your preference in choosing our company and our collaborators as you have helped us make this happen.

Tim Longpré

One of Puerto Vallarta’s premier vacation rental agencies, PVRPV opened it’s doors on March 1, 2005. Tim Longpré who is originally from Toronto, opened his doors with a staff of 3, represented 50 properties from their small office located at 152 Francisco Rodriguez. On October 1, 2008, the office moved to its current location at 210 Pino Suarez.

Tim and his able staff of 25 have over 7 years of experience in the vacation services industry, representing over 500 properties located throughout the Puerto Vallarta area.
PVRPV is pro-active in the community co-sponsoring events such as Charity Bingo for four years. During the swine flu outbreak in the summer of 2009, the PVRPV offices became the staging area for a huge food drive, organized to assist those in need. In 2011, PVRPV co-sponsored the first annual Mob Flash Dance to promote tourism in Puerto Vallarta.
Additionally, the company took an active role in organizing the 2012 Mardi Gras Parade, and this year 2013, the Masquerade Party in Los Muertos Pier, promoting the next year Mardi Gras Parade 2014.

The list of community service projects is long and will continue into the future.

Tim depends heavily on his loyal staff for community service projects and they always deliver 110%.
Even with all the extra-curricular activities, the agency has served thousands of satisfied vacationers over the years.

Customer service is an extremely important commodity, one that often falls by the wayside in far too many businesses. PVRPV’s continued success in a very competitive market prompted Tim to develop and heavily rely on a 5* rating system, our overall rating over the last 4 years has been 4.5 out of 5 in all areas. The innovative creation of an automated booking system for owners and customers, has streamlined reservations coordination.

Congratulations, PVRPV and here’s wishing you many more successful years.

O Inversiones equivalentes a 20,000 DSMVDF, equivalente actualmente a 96,000 dlls aprox.

The Immigration Institute is not competent to answer tax related issues. Please consult with your notary public or, accountant or tax specialist, so that you can apply for the immigration condition that is most suitable to your interests.

21.- Must we let the FM3 expire and then start the process a new and we also have to pay a fine of $1,200. Pesos?
The immigration authority DOES NOT suggest letting your documents expire under any circumstance because it means that the foreign national will be in an irregular situation. However, if you qualify for an immigration regularization

Yes you may because the vehicle is legal in Mexico for 6 months. You must make sure you come back in time to drive back to the border before the vehicle’s permit expires.

Sorry, no grace periods allowed in accordance to the 5th article of the Mexican Customs Law.

13. Will my vehicle with a VIN starting with “J” be treated differently than other vehicles?
The Mexican Law of Permanent Importation of Used Vehicles is drafted under the provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), therefore only vehicles made in the US or Canada can be imported. These vehicles have serial numbers (VIN or NIV) that begin with a number 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 only. Unfortunately your car’s serial begins with a “J” which means it was made in Japan. Mexico does not currently have any trade agreements with that country.

14. Can we permanently import our vehicle in Manzanillo?
Yes, only if the vehicle entered Mexico first through that port and by sea. For instance, a vehicle cannot be driven from the border to Manzanillo and apply for permanent Importation

With over 1000 people attending the Puerto Vallarta Mardi Gras Masquerade Party on the new Los Muertos Pier, we can now safely announce that Mardi Gras will continue to be a Vallarta tradition.

The musical performances at the 2013 Masquerade Party opened with Sylvie and Jorge who also continued through the evening as the hosts of the show. Daniel Portela, Diamente Negro and Cristian Ogaz, Alberto Mejia, Miss Conception, Jorge Acosta and Beata and Eduardo Leon all gave those attending the Pier Party the show of the year. The combination of the music, the costumes and the lights on the pier was magical.

The Carnaval Committee is comprised of Tim Longpre of PVRPV, Tom Finley of Bar Frida, Rick Hepting of PVScene, Bill Hevener of RK Supplement and BuenFlex Clothing. Tracy Parks of the Palm Theater helped with organizing the entertainment.

Many thanks are due to the Vallarta Police Department, the Vallarta Bomberos, the many volunteers who worked behind the scenes, the sound crew, and the local restaurants and bars who joined in the party providing masks and libations.

A very special thank you goes out to Carlos Gerard Guzmán, the Puerto Vallarta Director of Tourism, who, above anyone else, made this show possible.
This year we did the pier. Next year we take it to the streets …

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

The Kinsey Sicks launch 20th Season at The Palm Cabaret

Follow us on: Share this on:

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, January 7, 2013: THE KINSEY SICKS, America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet, celebrate their 20th anniversary year with a new musical taking on the cultural bludgeon of reality TV. This show opens January 13 and runs through January 23 at 8pm most nights (except Fridays and Sundays showtime is 10pm). In this brilliant reality mash-up, we find Rachel, Winnie, Trixie and Trampolina teamed up in the jungle, trying their best to succeed at challenges that involve singing, dancing, dating, dieting and, of course, large insects. Will they win? Will they find spouses? Will they stay together? Will they be able to withstand the pressure? Will they sing on key for once?

THE KINSEY SICKS were, in fact, contestants in Season III of “America’s Got Talent.” Their first performances there brought standing ovations from the audience and gushing praise from the judges. One of their performances was featured as the theme footage for the season trailer. However, once the Kinsey Sicks performed their tongue-in-cheek song, “I Wanna Be a Republican,” they were cheerfully shown the door, and the footage of their performances was left on the cutting room floor. “AMERICA’S NEXT TOP BACHELOR HOUSEWIFE CELEBRITY HOARDER MAKEOVER STAR GONE WILD” brings the group’s firsthand knowledge of the reality show experience to bear, poking fun at the unreality and backstage surreality of this genre. And all in glorious 4-part harmony!
THE KINSEY SICKS launch “AMERICA’S NEXT TOP…” at The Palm Cabaret and Bar at Olas Altas 508 (old town/southside Puerto Vallarta) for 5 nights only beginning on January 14, 2013. Tickets are available on our website or at the door beginning 2 hours before showtime. Shows often sell-out so buying early and/or online is encouraged. Tickets for this show are 350 pesos general or 400 pesos for VIP seating.

THE KINSEY SICKS formed by freak accident in December of 1993 in San Francisco. Since then, they have written and performed scores of musicals, starred in their own Off-Broadway show at New York’s legendary Studio 54, toured internationally, recorded 8 albums and have been the subject of 2 feature films. Their fan base is extensive and remarkably diverse – including people of all ages, genders, religions and several political positions. The New York Times has praised their “voices sweet as birdsong” and Variety calls them “one act that should not be missed.” The San Francisco Chronicle says, “Their mangling of hit songs hits genius level.” Read more about them at
“AMERICA’S NEXT TOP…” boasts some of THE KINSEY SICKS’ best music of these last two decades – both wicked parodies and objectionable originals – plus some brilliant new songs written just for this show. And, of course, what would any reality show be without a production number in Yiddish?

Tickets for The Kinsey Sicks performances and all shows at The Palm Cabaret may be purchased online at or at the door starting by at least 6pm nightly. You can also find the Palm on Facebook at The Palm Cabaret and Bar.

It was a dream destination. It was a competition and a spectacular, star-studded event. But, chiefly, it had a real purpose – which resulted in the generation of $400,000 (USD) NET raised to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  I hope you will have an opportunity to share the attached with your readers.
